Q&A-Vikas Swarup
Author: Niket Gandhi
Well following the success of Slumdog Millionaire let’s get to the roots of the movie that is the book Q&A by Vikas Swarup. We review the book that showcases the success of a slum boy to a billion dollar prize, the book that highlights the grin truth behind the rising economy.

Q&A is not only a story about a slum boy and how he leads his life but it also showcases the different cultures the values of the Indian society.

The book begins with the accusations on the slum boy named “Ram Mohammad Thomas” who has just won a billion dollars on the show “Who will win a Billion”. Nobody can believe that a slumdog can win and answers the 12 questions right and win the prize, also it is hard to digest that no body else but this boy has won it. All of them assume that the young boy had got help from someone in the crowd or was wired. It doesn’t occur to anyone that those were the only answers that maybe the young tiffin kid knew the answers to.

In jail Ram is rescued and is defended by a lawyer who has bailed him out of trouble, she then questions Ram asks him how he knew the answers and well he says he just knew them. Ram then recollects each small incident in his life and how it was connected with the answers and by pure luck and density did he know the answers to the questions and it’s not his fault.

Vikas Swarup has given real life scenario’s and showcased the troubled life of a once famous film star, and a spy ring as well as communal disharmony the unity during the war and how life in north of India and in major cities. He has also mentioned the plight of the poor and the harsh conditions they face, the true reality of the chawl life and how the slum kids survive and are forced to beg .

It is a perfect tribute to the kids in India and how a dream can turn into a reality through little bit of luck.
